I'll be honest with you: buying a home is not what I thought it was going to be! I've been staring at this blinking cursor for a couple days now....I have been so excited to share the good news with you that we bought our first home, but at the same time I can't truthfully say it was a pleasant experience to go through!
Did you know that a recent survey shows that most people feeling buying a first home is more stressful than filing for bankruptcy or going through a divorce?? I feel less alone in my experience, at least...haha.
But now that's all behind us, and we're officially home owners! The process was rough, but very worth it now that we're on the other side. I'm so excited to focus on what's next for us!
We intentionally purchased a home that needed some updates and renovations, so that we could put our own personality and dreams into it. We've already started with a few things that needed immediate attention: we fixed some gutters and soffit, and made the door locks more secure. My dad helped us fix a leaking toilet. We deep cleaned everything (not a fix, but still a major accomplishment haha!) and fixed the bathroom door so it now latches and locks correctly. J already had an adventure in caulking as well, and we've added a few new tools to our arsenal already.
We've got projects lined up for nearly every part of the house: basement, kitchen, living spaces, bedroom, bathrooms, back yard, etc. It's fun to dream and we're already saving up money for our first big renovation!
We've got a long way to go, but we've been enjoying working together on our new home so far. I'll be sharing some of our progress on here periodically, so check back to see our house become even cuter!
