What do you do with a bit of extra project time? Why, try some new techniques and make a project for fun, of course!
I used this text from Proverbs that inspires me to be the best wife I can be, in my own unique way. The piece is 11"x14", created on Arches 140-lb Cover Paper. It's framed here with no mat.
It's hard to see in a photograph, but there is a light watercolor wash for the background, which I textured by dabbing with a paper towel while it dried.
The script is a variation of Copperplate that I absolutely adore. It's one of my go-to scripts...I love the extra-long entrance strokes and ascending / descending stems. I used homemade, gouache-based red ink, which sits beautifully raised on the page to create even more texture to the piece.
Overall, the piece is an reflection of quiet and sparsity. There aren't many embellishments on the text, and no sparkle or ornate frills. It's simplicity is what makes it beautiful to me.
